PROJECT # 5 is a new Semi-Detached House in the East of Singapore, facing a busy main road and looking towards a neighbourhood of low-rise houses.
The need to accommodate a 3m wide pool within the 2m set-back, along the length of the house, resulted in a shift of 1m in the Plan which was further repeated in the Section and Elevation.
The resulting form is that of shifting volumes and overlapping planes with multiple gaps; a response to resolve the conflicting need for privacy and openness of a tropical house in a highly urbanized environment.
