AWP SIXTY

Alfred Wong Partnership was founded in 1957. Fromthe formative years when Singapore was transforming from a colonial back waterto a fully Independent Nation, we contributed to its development witheducational buildings from Primary Schools, Polytechnics to Universities.Continuing today, we are active in the area of Data Centres and Logistic Hubsin the way of infrastructure facilities. From the 1980s we have worked in Chinaand we now have, for some years established AWP Chengdu PRC. We are active in neighboringcountries of ASEAN and beyond and working with internationally knownprofessional teams.

MODERNITY AND METHODOLOGY

Theambition of our work is to address how a building is perceived based uponinquiry, logic and reason. Critical concerns explored are those of legibility,hierarchy, narrative creation, appropriate technology usage and an honesty ofexpression based upon rationally derived and mutually reinforcing ideas foreach independent project. This allows recognition of multi-cultural influences,contrasts of client expectation and requirement, technological advances andvarying responses to a particular context and climate to be an intrinsic partof the methodological stimulus which is translated into contrasts ofarchitectural form and detail.
