With strong geometric forms, the development is situated at the edge of East Perth, the gateway Precinct into the City of Perth, with convenient access to existing infrastructure and public transport connections into the CBD and airport.
Responding to the Client’s aspirations to transform the development into a key regional attraction, the existing façade is applied with a new layer of cladding detailed as delicate origami folds. This new layer is conceived as symbiotic element that fills through the open spaces and draws its form from the angular lines within the current architecture.
Reconfiguration of the retail shops, vehicular flow and way finding are also improved with sheltered laneways, new retail configurations and event areas to activate the site and improve conditions for future planning and developments.
