Responding to the Community Centre Management Committee’s requirement to upgrade the existing aging facilities to the changing resident profile in West Coast, the design intent is to update the programming, reconnect with the surrounding context, and re-establish the Community Centre as the social venue for West Coast with a new extension that houses new activity spaces such as an indoor basketball court, Multipurpose Hall, childcare, activity rooms, inclusive playground, culinary studio and rooftop event space.
Two high level linkages were also added to the building connecting to West Coast Plaza and the new ABC water deck to create a seamless elevated pedestrian network for the residents to transverse within the West Coast Community and commercial centres.
